"Homeless People Matter?" with a question mark PB, really? All people matter! That being said- I can pretty much speak from as close to experience as I can get. By definition our family was considered homeless, did we still matter to our church family? well, you guys made us believe so, perhaps that might be the answer to your question mark? After running out of "reserves" to hotel hop, Thanks be to a couple acquaintances in our old home town that offered Chris and Em a bed/floor to sleep on while I was hospitalized, they had a roof over their heads. Thanks to a church family couple (you know who you are :) ) again, after being discharged, we as a family had a roof over our heads again. AND a big thanks to an organization/program called the McKinney/Vento Act, they provided round trip transportation for Em to her school, so while we were couch surfing and hotel hopping- her school was the one constant in her life and if it weren't for her school counselor at that challenging time, I'd be more of a basket case. While were desperate for housing, we were not totally desolate- although many times I was ready to give up and pitch a tent under a tree with the best of them downtown and Chris refused. So today, I thank God first and foremost that our housing situation is for now secure, and secondly, I thank Lorraine K. for being a trusting person and opening her rental home to us- it may not be an ideal location for us- but we have four walls , windows- a place to call home. Homelessness, even by definition is not fun!
