This might sound strange, but I feel that way when I serve at church. To me its strange unfamiliar territory. So many things scare me about this new world but I know I'm going to be okay.....not coming from a world of smiling facces or outward friendlyness. It makes me uneasy. I grew up in S.Seattle/ Skyway I've also lived I'm Richmond CA. The Hood is Home too me I understand that life. And the mentality that goes with it much better than at Church. I'm a fish out of water slowly growing legs at church.

Oh and your first chapter is awesome! I always love how reading your writing is exactly like listening to you preach on Sunday. Real, gritty, and yet wholesome. Keep up the good work!

Actually PB, this sense has struck me several times in my life. Once was when I was in the military, serving on a submarine. Serving on a boat that is designed to sink might cause many people to be a bit edgy, but to add to the experience, we were in the middle east, trafficking through an area that really didn't care for us, and had hundreds of vessels trafficking through at the same time, During this particular cruise, we got run over for lack of a better term. That caused our boat to go from 60 feet under water to around 300 feet, and we were traveling left, not like we turned left, but hand of god let's put you over here left.
At first, yes there was minor panic, come on everyone's human, but our leadership quickly barked an order that roughly went, " HEY! Pull your heads outta yer !@#!@# and do what you've been trained to do this ENTIRE #*&($^#*&# TRIP!" There was a brief pause, and then complete organized and precise chaos. There was no time to think, no room for error, and a definite plan to be executed. We managed to save our ship, assess damages, and limp to port. Without a doubt we had every right to be scared, yet due to our training and our leadership, we were right as rain.
